Mekonomen Group acquires Opus Equipment from the Opus Group

Through the subsidiary company MECA, Mekonomen Group acquires Opus Equipment AB - a comprehensive supplier of workshop equipment to car workshops and vehicle inspection companies. The supply of workshop equipment will be a new business within Mekonomen Group who will offer workshop equipment with assembly and maintenance service to existing and new customers in the automotive aftermarket already during the third quarter of 2015.

Workshop equipment with associated services will be offered to existing and new workshop customers and vehicle inspection companies. The operation will be organised in the Group’s B2B-focused company, MECA, where business will continue as a separate unit aimed at strengthening the entire Mekonomen Group.

“The acquisition of Opus Equipment will add a key component to Mekonomen Group’s overall offering and MECA has good conditions for the integration of the Opus Equipment operation in the already B2B-focused organisation. Workshop equipment is used by all our workshop customers and we recognise major potential among new customer target groups, such as vehicle inspection companies and other workshops. We will offer existing and new customers a high-quality range at competitive prices”, says Pehr Oscarson, Managing Director of MECA Scandinavia.

Opus Equipment has sales of approximately SEK 135 M (2014), with EBITDA of SEK 7.7 M (2014) and about 70 employees, most of whom are in Sweden. The company’s sales are primarily in Europe. The current President of Opus Equipment, Jörgen Hentschel, and the company’s management group, will remain with the company after the acquisition. The purchase price on a debt free basis amounts to SEK 51 million and will be paid in cash. The acquisition is expected to be completed 1 July 2015.
